All you moms out there, close your eyes (figuratively, of course) and imagine a motherhood of sheer perfection … sheer bliss … sheer joy.
Imagine, if you will:
A pregnancy free of morning sickness, stretch marks and hemorrhoids.
An infant who does not have colic, reflux or vocal chords that can shatter glass.
A toddler who does not bite, stick fingers in sockets or eat dog food off the floor.
A preschooler who refrains from using potty talk, gracefully accepts disappointment and shares willingly.
A grade schooler who always listens in class, keeps a clean room and brushes teeth without complaint.
A preteen who does not talk back, question authority or get lost in fierce mood swings.
A teenager who is always honest, super communicative and maniacally focused on getting into college.
Did you do it? Did you imagine it?
Yeah me, too. And it was boring. Chaos, craziness, imperfection… now that’s the stuff of life.
